Fort Edmonton Park Booking Procedures

Bookings for the 2014/2015 school year will begin on Aug. 11. Fort Edmonton Park requires a t least 16 days advance notice for bookings.



Please be prepared to provide the following information:

  • Program name
  • Potential program dates (2-3)
  • School mailing address including postal code
  • School telephone and fax number
  • Contact name and names of teachers for all classes being booked
  • Email address(es) of teacher(s) booking and attending the program
  • Number of students attending
  • Number of supervisors  (see “Group Size” section for information on permitted numbers of supervisors)
  • Special needs/accessibility arrangements
  • Location and address for travelling programs
  • Name and phone number or cell phone of on-site contact person for travelling programs

The amount owing is shown on your program confirmation email. Payment is required prior to the program.

Invoices are sent out by the City on the first of the month. As you are required to pay your invoice on the first day of the previous month, you will receive your invoice before your program runs.  For example, for a June booking you will receive your invoice May 1.

Payment can be made by cash, cheque, Visa, MasterCard and American Express.  Please have cheques made payable to The City of Edmonton and write the booking confirmation numbers on your cheques.

Fort Edmonton Park’s living history museum is open from the May long weekend to the end of September. During the fall and winter months the Park is open for special events, education programs and private events. Please do not explore the park without a staff member during this time due to safety and security concerns.



Fort Edmonton Park has very specific guidelines for food services. Please follow these guidelines, found below. Students are permitted to bring their own brown-bag lunch and snacks.

Prepared meals are not permitted onsite. This includes pizza, BBQ’s, crock pots, hot dogs, hamburgers, chili etc. Potlucks and all use of unauthorized outside catering is no longer permitted in the park. For all prepared meals you must go through the Hotel Selkirk.

Before the May long weekend, if you plan to stay for the day (eg. one program in morning and one program in the afternoon, or buses are arriving later than program end time), you are required to rent a lunch space onsite.  The fee for this space is $30. You are required to provide written notice of cancellation of your programs via email at

If a program is cancelled and is not rescheduled within the same school year at the time of cancellation, a fee of 50% of the cost of the program will be charged.  If less than 48 hours notice is given of the cancellation, the full program cost will be charged.

If a program is cancelled and is rescheduled within the same school year at the time of cancellation, no fee will be charged.  If less than 48 hours notice is given of the rescheduling, a fee of 50% of the cost of the program will be charged.

Programs run rain or shine. In the event of poor weather, you must call 780-496-3453 or email if you are not coming.

If you cancel due to weather conditions: you will not be charged for re-scheduling in the same school year, OR you will be charged  a fee of 50% of the program cost if the program is NOT rescheduled.

Fort Edmonton Park reserves the right to cancel “History In Your Classroom” programs due to adverse driving conditions.  In the case of cancellation, you will be contacted to reschedule your program.



After the May long weekend, Fort Edmonton Park is open to the public in addition to school bookings. In order to accommodate as many school booking requests as possible, programs in the morning will start at 9:30 am, and afternoon programs will start at 12:30 pm. The maximum number of children permitted in a program is 30.  Groups exceeding 30 children must book an additional program.

Adults are admitted with the program in the following ratios:

  • Preschool: 1 adult per 3 children
  • K “ Grade 6: 1 adult per 5 children
  • Grades 7 “ 12: 1 adult per 10 children

Groups who arrive exceeding the maximum of 30 children or 40 people total will be charged additional fees after the program.
