FARM FAVORITES

Saturday, August 5th 8:00 AM – 9:30 AM

 

Rural agriculture has had a huge impact on Edmonton’s economy through the years, and there’s no better time to enjoy the history and tranquility of the farm than in the morning! Join us bright and early for a walking tour of the Ottewell Homestead, the Henderson Dairy Farm, and the original Mellon Farm buildings represented right here at Fort Edmonton Park.

THE ART OF THE TERRARIUM

Saturday, August 12th 9:00 AM – 10:00 AM

 

Terrariums were a popular hobby during the early 1900s, and they’re back in a huge way in 2017! Experience the romance of the Victorian times by building a miniature version of these fascinating planters to bring home.

Price: $20/participant + $20 supply fee

Workshop location: Rutherford yard (or Ramsay’s if weather is inclement)
Supplies provided: Terrarium containers, small bedding plants, soil, sand, gravel

THE GARDENER’S SKETCHBOOK

Saturday, August 19th 8:00 AM – 10:00 AM

 

Capture the glory of Fort Edmonton Park’s gardens as heritage gardener Suzanne Lamoureux guides you through a step-by-step introduction to sketching the natural beauty of our late summer gardens.

Skill level: beginner to intermediate

Price: $20/participant + $15 supply fee

Gardening doesn’t have to end just because summer is coming to a close! There are all kinds of late summer gardening activities to enjoy in Fort Edmonton Park. Explore how to use those herbs, plants, and vegetables you’ve tenderly cared for all summer long to make special treats for your fall kitchen!
