Enjoy a variety of hand picked classic movies each month in Fort Edmonton Park’s Cinema Series.

 

Played in the historic Capitol Theatre, each film in the Cinema Series is selected by Artistic Director Dana Anderson, who introduces the film each week. Every month features a new line up of popular movies from the past sure to give you a classic film experience to remember.

The Capitol Theatre was rebuilt in summer 2011 and is a beautiful recreation of the original Capitol Theatre from 1929. With modern construction combined with design from the past, you can relive the magic of classic film with all of the comforts of a modern movie theatre.

Concessions

Complement your vintage Cinema Series experience by enjoying a variety of concession items that are unique to the Capitol Theatre. Enjoy sweet and savoury treats and refreshing beverages, as well as domestic and imported beer, wine and hi balls for adults!

Between these dates, you can pick up your basket at the Hotel Selkirk Front Desk after 5 pm.

    DIRECTOR: KEN HUGHES | RATED G Ian Fleming of James Bond fame wrote this amazing children’s story about a down-on- his-luck inventor that turns a broken down Grand Prix car into a flying automobile for his children. This is another great night for a picnic and a movie.

  • Cinema Series - THE UNTOUCHABLES, 1987

    DIRECTOR: BRIAN DE PALMA | RATED 18A Put on your fedoras and flapper dresses and travel back with us to the 1920s. Spend the evening with Al Capone and Elliot Ness as they blaze their way through prohibition Chicago. A great excuse to get all dolled up and hang out at the Mahogany Bar then see a cinema classic.

  • Cinema Series - LITTLE BIG MAN, 1970
    September 14, 2017 7:30 pm

    DIRECTOR: ARTHUR PENN | RATED PG13 Dustin Hoffman plays a 100 year old man who recounts his adventures in the old west. This is one of the first Hollywood films to actually deal with some sensitivity to the North American indigenous culture. Chief Dan George was nominated for a Best Supporting Actor.

    DIRECTOR: : GEORGE ROY HILL| RATED PG The Sting is a 1973 American caper film set in September 1936 involving a complicated plot by two professional grifters to con a mob boss…. this movie teams up Robert Redford and Paul Newman again after their success with Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid their chemistry is a joy to watch and the theme song is a catchy earwig that you will be humming all the way home.

his wife Wendy and his son Danny who was plagued by a psychic premonition. As Jack’s writing goes nowhere and Danny’s visions become more disturbing, Jack begins to unravel.

    Room 237 DIRECTOR: RODNEY ASCHER | RATED 14A A documentary about a conspiracy theory that surmises that Stanley Kubrick was hired by NASA to fake the moon landing in case it didn’t go as planned. It is filled with the speculation that the movie The Shining is Kubrick’s way of telling the world that he was indeed part of a secret covert operation to deceive the public. It examines the many clues that Kubrick has supposedly hidden in the film.
