Tips and Sample Itineraries

Itineraries

  • +1-2 hours Trips
Start with riding the 1919 steam train to the Hudson’s Bay fort. Enjoy the Fur Trade tales and eat fresh Bannock at the Cree encampment every day at 11:30am. Hop on an authentic stagecoach ride or try our 1885 Bakery (one of our many hidden gems). Talk with the friendly costumed interpreters in the Park’s over 70 authentic buildings, have your historical photo taken at Ernest Brown or stop by the Hotel Selkirk for a bite. Don’t miss the great ice cream at Bill’s Confectionery on 1920 Street, and finish off with a Midway ride.
  • +2-4 hours
With a little more time, the activity options definitely open up. Book an old fashioned picnic basket lunch through the Hotel Selkirk and sit on the grass by the pond just relaxing. Participate in tea with the interpreters, take pioneer craft making or try out the Edwardian sports, citizens’ action debates or daily school lessons every morning. Perhaps end your day with a quiet pint of Guinness at Hotel Selkirk’s Mahogany Bar.
  • +Overnight
The Hotel Selkirk is your peaceful country getaway right in the city, offering great mid-week room rates. Dinner at the Selkirk is a culinary delight filled with romance, and an evening walk in the Park followed by a night cap is an opportunity not to be missed.
