Boats and Buoyancy Gr. 2John Walter was a master boat builder and opened Edmonton's first ferry across the river. Students will learn about density, propulsion and water transportation at hands-on activity stations and build wooden paddle boats that actually float! Four adult volunteers are required.

Find out what it took to run a business that spanned all of Rupert’s Land, and see where you fit into the mix when you are given a role to play.
Aboriginal Adaptations in Your Classroom Gr. 4 – 8Bark used as a cast for a broken leg? What about a spruce cone for a sore throat? All across what is now Canada, First Nations groups adapted their environment to their needs. Use your detective skills to investigate photos from the late 1800s and find out how each group used plants, animals, and other natural resources to survive.
Pioneer Family Life Kindergarten – 6Who are the pioneers and how did they get here? Find out how hard they worked and how they played. Farming, schooling, recreation, and more will be brought to life with hands-on artifacts, toys and photographs. Students will also have an opportunity to try their hand at making butter!
