What a frightful weekend! Fort Edmonton Park was
transformed into a wicked haven of witches, zombies and many other
ghastly beasts. Halloween spirit was in the air on 1905 and 1920
street and many visitors made their way over to the Blatchford
Hangar - where kids, young and old, were able to create a Treasure
pouch, be dazzled by Konrad the Magician, have their fortunes told
and watch Knights of the Realm duel on stage.
Across the street, Doctor Stupendo's Scientorium was busy
bubbling and brewing up a storm, while adventurous golfers braved
the local pirates to play some mini golf in dark, with only neon
lights to guide them.
1905 street had an ominous feel but spirits were quite high as
the U of A Dance Team did a frighteningly good job of the Thriller
dance. Their costumes and make-up were exceptional and it was
definitely the highlight of the event.
Visitors in search of directions to Zombieville could simply
follow the screams to find their way. It was truly horrific - the
entire street was overrun with the living dead, apparently with
most settlers already falling victim to the zombie hordes. The
Jasper House Hotel was by far the most popular location for
visitors and zombies alike - in this refuge of our Zombie-Killing
Hero, visitors had to prove their survival skills, or be eaten
alive. Even the line-up didn't deter many hardcore visitors from
being scared out of their wits. If the screams emanating from the
Hotel were any indication, their fates were sealed.
We all hope you enjoyed Spooktacular 2010!
