Fort Edmonton Management Company
Fort Edmonton Park is operated by the Fort Edmonton Management
Company on behalf of the City of Edmonton, which owns the
buildings, artifacts and land associated with the attraction. The
Fort Edmonton Foundation fundraises to support the Park's capital
development.
Douglas O. Goss, Q.C., Board Chair
Doug Goss serves as Counsel to the law firm of Bryan &
Company LLP in Edmonton, and is a Director and/or Officer of
numerous private and public corporations in Canada. Doug obtained
his B.Comm. (Finance) from the University of Alberta, followed by
his LLB. In addition to his duties as Chairman of the Board of the
Fort Edmonton Management Company, Mr. Goss currently serves as the
Chairman of the Board of the TELUS Edmonton Community Board, and is
also a member of the Board of Trustees of the Stollery Children's
Hospital Foundation. Mr. Goss has served as the Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club, as a
member of the Board of Governors of the Canadian Football League,
and as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Edmonton Oilers
Community Foundation. Mr. Goss also recently completed a three year
term as the Chairman of the Board of Governors of the Northern
Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT).
Bruce Bentley
Bruce Bentley is president and chief executive officer of Maclab
Enterprises, an Edmonton-based privately held real estate
development firm with operations in Alberta, British Columbia, the
Northwest Territories, and the United States. Bruce is a graduate
of the University of Alberta School of Business, a past president
of the University of Alberta Alumni Association, a past member of
the Board of Governors of the Banff Centre and a former member of
the senate of the University of Alberta. He is currently a director
of the Edmonton Eskimo Football Club, a member of the Edmonton
Homelessness Commission and a member of the Concordia University
College's Mihalcheon School of Business Advisory Council.
Laird Kulak
Laird Kulak is President of WCMI Construction Services Ltd. an
Edmonton area-based company. He has a diploma in Architectural
Technology from NAIT, a degree in Urban Land Economics from the
University of British Columbia, and is a graduate of the Sloan
Fellows Program (MBA) - Massachusetts Institute of Technology. As
part of his community involvement he has been a Fort Edmonton
Foundation Board member since 2000 and Board Chair from 2005 to
2008, and served on the Board of Directors for Junior Achievement
Northern Alberta. Laird is also on the Board of Governors of the
Society of Sloan Fellows, MIT.
Donald Cummings, Board Treasurer
Donald Cummings has had a distinguished career in professional
service firm executive and client management. His professional
practice specialized in strategic management and organizational
transformation services and he has had extensive experience with
Board and Executive Management in complex change strategy and
turnaround situations.
Donald holds a B.A. in political science and an M.B.A. from the
University of Alberta. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Certified
Management Consultants and has pursued further learning from
Stanford University where he completed an executive course in
Strategic Uses of Information Technology. He has also taken courses
in the Strategic Systems Dynamics Program of the Massachusetts
Institute of Technology (MIT), Sloan School of Business. Donald is
a member of the Board of Trustees of the Glenrose Rehabilitation
Hospital Foundation, The Fort Edmonton Management Company, and has
held numerous community based Board positions, including the
Support Network, the Volunteer Centre of Edmonton, and the Old
Strathcona Foundation. He is also currently a Director of a
private, employee owned environmental and forestry consulting firm
based in Vancouver and is the Board Chair of a scientific
measurement products and services company based in Edmonton.
Donald's experience in strategic management has been honed over
a career that has included partnership in the international
accounting and consulting firm Ernst & Young. He was a founding
partner of a Canadian based management consultancy that was
subsequently acquired by an international information systems
company where he held a Regional Vice President position
responsible for profitable growth of professional services. He has
been the Managing Partner of National Growth Partners since its
inception in June, 2009.
Jeff Polovick
Jeff Polovick owns Driving Force, an Edmonton based company.
Jeff is a Director with Economic Development Edmonton, and with the
Edmonton Eskimo Football Club. He is past Chair of Junior
Achievement of Northern Alberta and N.W.T, Member Relations Chair
of the Edmonton Chamber of Commerce and Past President of the
Edmonton Mayfield Rotary Club.
Liam Peuramaki
As the liaison for the Coalition of Edmonton Civic Unions, Liam
represents more than 8,500 City of Edmonton employees who are
members of five civic unions: Amalgamated Transit Union Local 569,
Canadian Union of Public Employees Local 30, Civic Service Union
52, Edmonton Fire Fighters' Union Local 209 and United Food and
Commercial Workers Local 401. Liam's role stretches from observing
City Council meetings and the media to representing the Coalition's
interests on numerous committees and working groups.
Liam is a graduate of Grant MacEwan University's Bachelor of
Applied Communications program and has spent time working in the
charitable sector, as well as with the Government of Alberta. He
enjoys volunteering in the community and spending time with his
wife and two dogs.
Dave Loken
For several years prior to his election on city council, Dave
represented more than 8,500 City of Edmonton employees while
working for a coalition of five civic unions. In addition to
monitoring City Council meetings, he lobbied council on employee
issues and acted as a liaison between city employees and managers.
Dave also worked for the City's Drainage and Transportation
department while a university summer student.
A consensus builder with extensive experience in high-level
decision making, Dave understands the complexities of civic
government and the decision-making process. He is professionally
trained in conflict resolution and negotiation and has completed a
Masters Degree in Conflict Analysis and Management.
Dave currently sits on both the Donate-a-Ride committee and Fort
Edmonton Management Company. He currently lives in the Griesbach
community with his wife Camille and has four grown boys.
Jane Batty
Jane Batty balances professional experience with community
involvement. As Vice President of Operations for Denny Andrews
Inc., she managed the company's interests for 13 years until her
election to Council in 2001.
Her extensive corporate experience is equaled only by the varied
work she has done in the community. She is a member of the Edmonton
Space and Science Foundation, the University of Alberta -
City-Region Studies Centre Advisory Board and is the Past President
of the Edmonton Glenora Rotary Club. These diverse experiences are
further augmented by her involvement on committees such as the
River Valley Alliance, Edmonton Police Commission, IAAF 2005 World
Half Marathon Championship, the World Cup Triathlon, University of
Alberta Senate, Edmonton Northlands, Royal Alexandra Hospital
Foundation and in her work with Council.
Lee Smith
Lee Smithis a retired health professional with extensive
experience in management. Lee is a graduate of the University of
Alberta with a Masters in Health Services Administration and
Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Her strong interest in history is
reflected by her involvement in heritage activities and
organizations. She is the Chair of the Historic Review Panel, a
member of the Plaques and Awards Committee and past Chair of the
Edmonton Historical Board. Lee is the President of St. David's
Welsh Society of Edmonton, a member of the Historical Society of
Alberta and the Edmonton and District Historical Society.
Micheal Webb
Michael Webb is President of MacLachlan & Mitchell Homes, a
third-generation Edmonton family business. As part of his community
involvement he has served as the Venue Operation Chairperson of the
2001 World Championships in Athletics, a Director with Edmonton
Northlands and Edmonton Home Builders, Chairperson for the
International Home Builders Council and President and Director of
the Young Entrepreneurs Organization. He has also supported the
community as a Director of Kids with Cancer, as Chairperson of the
Kids with Cancer Relay Committee, and as Chairperson of the Liver
League Foundation as well as many other business and community
organizations.
Lewis Cardinal
Lewis Cardinal is the owner of Cardinal Strategic
Communications, an Edmonton-based consulting firm and is a PhD
candidate in education at the University of Alberta. Lewis is Chair
of the Global Indigenous Dialogue, an international gathering of
Indigenous peoples, Chair of Aboriginal Voices Radio (AVR) Canada's
first and only national Aboriginal radio network, Founder and
President of the Indigenous Media Institute of Canada, and Co-chair
of the Aboriginal Commission on Human Rights and Justice.
Robb Campre
Robb Campre is a member of the Fort McKay First Nation, grew up
in northeast Edmonton, Beverly, former school counselor in Edmonton
and former Edmonton Eskimos football player. He currently owns
Grazing Buffalo Construction, Kamik Aboriginal Training and Brocha
Scaffolding Supply & Services. Robb is also active in the
community serving as, Board of Directors Secretariat for Action on
Homelessness, Acting President for Dreamspeakers Aboriginal Film
Society and President of Wicihitowin. He also contributes as a
Board member with the Edmonton Economic Development Corporation and
Chairing the Edmonton Urban Aboriginal Economic Development
Committee and former Director with Fort McMurray Chamber of
Commerce and the now defunct 2017 Expo Aboriginal Advisory bid
Committee. Over the past ten years Robb has worked hard to improve
opportunities for our urban aboriginal community especially with
youth in sports, education, recreation and culture.
John Howard
John Howard is the Managing Partner of Howard Gardiner
Associates CA's and has 30 years experience in providing audit,
accounting, and income tax services to a wide range of clients.
John has significant tax experience having dealt with the set up
and reorganization of many businesses. John is a minor hockey
coach, was on the Board of Directors at the River Valley Alliance,
was a Business and Industry delegate at the Alberta Growth Summit
and sits on the Board of Directors and is a Governance Committee
member of a well known Edmonton based public company. He is also
Chairman of the Board of variety of private companies in the
Venture Capital, Real Estate, Auto Collision Repair and
Construction Container business.
